Does anyone know what ingredients are used to make homeopathic remedies? Is brandy a common ingredient?

I took my 2 yr old daughter to a homeopath for sleeping difficulties and she prescribed lycopodium, but the remedy is based on a mix of water and brandy. I thought it was unusual to give alcohol to young children but she said its quite common when I brought it up. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of homeopathic remedies or used them on their children and what results were gained. Thanks!
